Audi appointed Mattia Binotto To manage your own project in Formula 1. The Italian occupied an important position within the German square at his debut in the Great Circus. He becomes the operations manager and technical director for the first time in the team.

The former Ferrari manager moved away from racing in 2022, when he left his position in the jumping horse team. Two years later he returned, this time in Audi and will start working from August 1.

Initially, Andreas Seidl was the person chosen by the Swiss team to lead them in the shift towards Audi, but today they announced his departure and the Italian will take over. “I am delighted that we have been able to hire Mattia Binotto for our ambitious Formula 1 Project,”said Gernot Dillner, CEO of AUDI AG.

The Italian joined Ferrari in 1995, and now he is starting a new adventure in the first class, this time with Audi. The CEO of AUDI AG assures that Binotto’s experience will help the team in its start-up in Formula 1: “With his extensive experience of more than 25 years in Formula 1, he will undoubtedly be able to make a decisive contribution to Audi.”

Two important exits

Sauber is currently the only team that does not have any points in the 2024 season. Audi will make its entry into the Great Circus effective from 2026, but from now on they will leave everything ready to improve the performance carried out by the Swiss escudera.

The future of Sainz

This last-minute shift could mean a change in the demo market. There are still many who do not have a team, and the signing of the Italian by the future team that will enter the network can change things. Signing a profile like Binotto could change the future decisions of some drivers, including Carlos Sainz.
