Present: “I’ve been training all summer and I have more strength in my shoulder. I hope to regain my best, and this year I will go to the Budapest world and see if I will achieve the minimum at the Spanish championship.”
Your memory of the double chord of the world: “I had the double challenge of swimming the two events in the afternoon. I knew that the second 100 was the strongest, I tried not to get too far away from it and then did my best to overcome it.”
Talent in Spanish swimming: “In Spain we have a lot of facilities, good coaches and the important thing is that people have to dedicate themselves body and soul. It requires a lot of sacrifice. With Hyundai we do a lot of tests with children in high-performance centers to motivate them and it is a very interesting project. I want to help discover new talents.”
The marketing manager sees what is lost in the personality: “My life was not like an ordinary person, I missed things but far exceeded them by what I did. I have lived experiences such as traveling all over the five continents, getting to know other cultures and I will not change it for what I have lost. Now I’m going to make fun trips because before they were without tourism when I competed.”
Family: “If you are a child, you need a family to support you and know how to be. My sport is not a team sport, but you have to support him and be with him. My father Jose was fundamental, he helped me since I was four years old, he made many sacrifices so that I could train.”
Swimming hardness: “The clock always puts you in your place. In swimming I played everything in cents, I earn Olympic gold for three cents, for one au.”
Mental health: “My right shoulder injury made it difficult for me. You have to have the tools like a psychologist but you have to have the positive attitude in the pool to achieve the goals. We are under a lot of pressure and in the end you have to figure out how to relate to that. The person I’m pushing is myself.”
Gold in the Rue de Janeiro“I’m very happy , I feel like crying, these are feelings that are difficult to cope with … There are many things that have happened to me and I loved the moment of listening to the Spanish anthem with the Olympic medal. I slept with the medal and it was the happiest day of my life.”
The best athletes in history: “I don’t have a track record, but there are many athletes who have inspired like Michael Phelps in my case because of what it means to swim.”
His career to reach the top: “I have lived the theater since childhood from being able to leave and the important thing is to enjoy what needs to be done like swimming, have a good time and have a dream like Mo to be an Olympic champion.”
Spanish swimmers: “I don’t see anyone in the future of Spanish swimming at the moment, but if the work is done and there is a good plan for the federation, then there can be a good future for swimming.”
Pars games: “I was really bitten by the worm. I would have liked to be in pars, to live the atmosphere of the games, but unfortunately I could not and lived from a distance.”
