EThe Italian Senate approved two amendments to the anti-piracy law last week, and now it is the Congress that has given the green light to these new measures. Italy has given the green light to the expansion of the piracy Shield, the platform that serves to restrict access to IPTV platforms and web pages. With the new amendments, the obligation to block illegal content of VPN and DNS services is also included if the companies that own the rights demand it.
From now on, VPN and DNS services, as well as remote operators and the service providers themselves, will face penalties that include penalties of up to one year in prison if they do not report hacking-related activities that they know to the authorities.
The amendments, drafted by the parties Fratelli d’italia and Forza Italia-the latter has Claudio Lotito, the president of Lazio as a senator-are framed within the Decree-Law of monippos and are intended to strengthen their commitment against the illegal consumption of audiovisual content, especially football. In addition, the limits on the number of pages that can be blocked are canceled, which facilitates the fight against piracy.
These procedures approved in Italy, or similar, are those that the Liga would like to approve in Spain. The Employers ‘ Association called on the Spanish government to adapt the legislation to the recommendations of the European Union on copyright protection.
Liga estimates that Spanish professional clubs suffer losses of 600-700 million euros per year. It is also believed that if Google cooperates, piracy will be reduced by 80%.
